Have you ever felt like you just can’t get to something, or become a winner? You lean towards a goal to only miss it again, and now feel like your reward is out of your reach. Well, I am coming to you today to deliver a word that the Holy Spirit had given me about being blinded to the blessings.
A pinata is used in a game that Spanish children play at a birthday party. Let’s look at the definition from wikipedia, “A pinata (Spanish pronunciation: [pi'ɲata]) is a papier-mâché or other type of container that is decorated, filled with toys and or candy and then broken as part of a ceremony or celebration.” 1.
The pinata, that is full of candy, is hung from a tall place, and getting to those lovely treats inside is the goal of the child. The child is blinded by a cloth over their eyes and given a stick. The child strikes at this pinata with the stick and the pinata just continue to twirl above their head. Sometimes it's like that with the people of God, we strive towards our goals, but feel they are out of reach. Finally, the child hits at the bag just right, and the treats are released to the ground for all the party goers to share. When the Lord showers us with the blessings, it is just what we need, “and he rained down manna for them to eat.” Psalm 78:24 He is our provider, and you should spread your goodness to others.
